My Art

I draw wherever I happen to be. On park benches, in museums, cafés, city streets, airports and occasionally places where sitting down with a sketchbook makes absolutely no sense. I’m originally from Chicago and have lived in Mexico for many years, with Mexico City now home.

Drawing has become the way I pay attention, how I drop into a place. I’m interested in capturing energy over accuracy: the place, the people, architecture, strange details, ordinary moments and whatever catches my eye long enough to make me stop. I draw quickly, usually on location, almost always in continuous line, and I don’t clean up my drawings afterward. The wonky lines, wrong proportions and bizarre marks are part of my magic.

These galleries cover a few of the places where I have drawn, with more locations to come, because “can’t stop won’t stop”, drawing is my medicine.
